Welcome to the tenth week of the 2026–2027 academic year at Samuel V. Champion High School! A huge congratulations to our Tennis and Waterpolo Teams for advancing to the next round of Playoffs! Both play TODAY, Tuesday, October 13th! We wish them tremendous success! As this first nine weeks comes to a close we would like to take a moment to thank our teachers, staff, and students for being Difference Makers on campus. On Tuesday, October 13th, we began with our teachers and staff placing the first Pink Ribbon on our Oak Tree in front of Champion. This being Breast Cancer awareness month, we are placing pink ribbons on all of our oak trees. Recognized annually on October 13, it helps start conversations about breast cancer, which is a leading form of cancer worldwide. It shows solidarity with people currently fighting breast cancer, honors survivors, and remembers those who passed away. Our Champion Family honors all. ____________________________________ |
I have to take a moment and brag on our Football Team and their Coaches. We received a letter from a neighboring Superintendent after our last game and it truly shows the Spirit of a Champion. I did have the opportunity to read it aloud to our students and staff last week and I’d like to share a portion with our families and community as well. “I wanted to take a moment to tell you both how proud you should be of your football team, not because of the scoreboard last night, but because of the way your players carried themselves. Boerne Champion dominated us on the field, but what impressed me most had nothing to do with the score. It was the class and sportsmanship your players demonstrated from start to finish. In my nine years as superintendent, I have attended all but one of our football games, and I can honestly say I have never seen another team conduct itself the way your team did last night. Truly a class act. Unfortunately, it has become fairly common to see players taunt opponents, say mean or vulgar things, celebrate at another team's expense, or leave starters in the game long after the outcome has been decided in an effort to run up the score. Your players and coaches did none of that. Instead, you played everyone. Your players competed hard, but they respected our players. I never heard a single negative comment from one of your players, and I never saw a moment of poor sportsmanship. Even with such a significant lead, there was no showboating, no humiliation of our team, and no attempt to make a difficult night harder for our kids. That says a great deal about the culture you have built. Anyone can teach young men how to win a football game. It takes something different to teach them how to win while still respecting the people standing across from them. Last night, your players demonstrated that lesson better than any scoreboard ever could. ” - Dr. Estrada (Andersen Superintendent)
This is just a portion of the email, but I truly believe that a team's/ school's character is seen in each and every student that walks its halls every day. So PROUD!

This weekend we had a group of student anglers earn School of the Tournament for Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) at Lake Belton. The top three teams from each District or School combine their weight. These kids combined bags were 31.09 pounds just edging out Comal for the trophy! This puts them tied for School of the Year with Comal after two tournaments.
The top three teams: 5th Place with 11.15# Zac Schnupp (BHS) & Ian Schnupp (BHS) 6th Place with 10.74# Person Trapote (CHS) & Coulter Willy (BHS) 13th Place with 9.50# Remington Stewart (CHS)
This a great program for the kids. We have lots of young kids involved and we have our second kid graduating this year to fish in College on scholarship. |
