Welcome to the ninth week of the 2026–2027 academic year at Samuel V. Champion High School! October is here! This month is filled with many things for students, parents, and community members!!
October 13th, we will have Parent-Teacher Conferences. Our teachers are already reaching out and making phone contact with parents. This is a great time to touch base by phone or in person. The end of the 9 weeks grading period brings opportunities to grow and to ignite excitement for the second part of the fall semester!
Please remember to check your student’s grades on the Skyward portal. It is always there for you to be informed and keep track of your child’s progress! If you need any assistance with this, please give us a call. We can help you get everything you need.
It is also a great time to be learning as much as you can about FAFSA and College Prep, financial aid resources, college application deadlines, and upcoming financial aid nights.
We will offer a FAFSA Night for our parents on Oct 22. Be sure to view all this information in the Counselor's Section further down in the newsletter.
It is so very important to have consistent attendance and engagement. Daily attendance greatly impacts high school success and credit recovery. This is a great time to check in with your student’s Mental Health and ensure they have the support needed to grow and progress through the fall learning period.
Highlight community or school wellness resources in recognition of World Mental Health Day.
We have an amazing counseling staff and district support to ensure your student is well cared for and that resources are readily available if needed.
This coming Friday, October 9th, and Monday, October 12th, are holidays for students.
Monday is in observance of Columbus Day.
Homecoming and Fall Activities are well underway. Homecoming is Friday, October 30th.
Our Student Council and Stampede are working together to prepare a great week of spirit here on campus! We are excited to see the students and faculty celebrating the Charger Spirit!
The Homecoming Dance, sponsored by Charms, is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th, at the Kendall County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Thank you for trusting us with your students!
Home of the Chargers ~ Heart of a Champion! MAKE AN IMPACT! Go Chargers!!

Stay connected with Skyward and Parent Square! If your child attends both CHS & BHS, you will get notices from both schools. Only you can manage your accounts; we do not have rights to change you from a distribution list.
-
Skyward Family Access - This is a great support for you. You can see parent notifications, grades, attendance, as well as, view student progress reports and report cards at any time. We ask that you keep this account up-to-date at all times, especially emergency contacts and family contacts. This is critical because students are not allowed to be check out with anyone except the family members listed in emergency contacts!
-
Parent Square - Please be aware of the following: (1) Parent Square and Student Square data is synced based on the information in Skyward Student. (2) If a parent wants to update their parent square information email or phone number then this has to be edited on the campus in Skyward and the data will then sync overnight to Parent Square. Please contact Maria Bidot @ (830) 357-2613 (3) If both parents want access then 2 different emails must be used and assigned to 2 different cell numbers.
