Welcome to the eighth week of the 2026–2027 academic year at Samuel V. Champion High School! Every Student Deserves a Champion. As we head into the final two weeks of the first nine weeks of our school year, we are reminded of what it takes to be a Champion. Not only as a student, but as a teacher, parent, friend!
There is a powerful quote by educator Rita Pierson that grounds my work every single day: "Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."
As the principal of Champion High School, I want you to know that this is the heartbeat of our school philosophy. To us, being a champion for your children means looking beyond test scores and report cards. It means seeing each student for who they are—their unique talents, their quirks, their struggles, and their potential. As a leadership team and staff,
we live out this "champion mindset" by committing to three things every day:
-
Building Real Connections: We make it a priority to know your children by name, learn what makes them smile, and ensure they feel safe and welcomed the moment they walk through our doors.
-
Holding High Expectations with Deep Support: We believe every single student can achieve great things. We won't lower the bar, but we will link arms with them to provide the tools, patience, and extra help they need to get over it.
-
Partnering with You: We know that we cannot be the only champions in your child's life. You are their first and most important advocate. Our goal is to work alongside you as a team to support their growth, celebrate their victories, and navigate any challenges together.
How can you be a Champion for your Students? You are role models, mentors, and heroes.
You are doing this everyday! Thank you for trusting us with your children. Together, we are building a community where every student is seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.
Home of the Chargers ~ Heart of a Champion! MAKE AN IMPACT! Go Chargers!!

For the safety of our students and to be respectful of our neighboring businesses, students and parents may not park or wait for student pick-up at the businesses located across Highway 46 from campus.
Please do not park your vehicle, wait for your student, or arrange for your student to meet you at these businesses after school. This creates a significant safety concern, as students are crossing or walking near a busy roadway, and it also disrupts the normal operations of our neighboring businesses.
Students should be picked up using the designated campus pick-up areas and should follow all campus procedures for dismissal. Parents who are picking up students are asked to remain on campus and use the appropriate pick-up locations.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation in keeping our students safe and maintaining positive relationships with our community business partners. Thank you for helping us keep Champion students safe!

A special shout-out to our Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society students, who created the voting posters and decorated the Social Studies hallways. BISD Instructional Practices students took learning beyond the classroom with a field experience at Boerne Middle School North! Our future educators had the opportunity to tour the campus, experience its culture, and observe classroom teachers in action.
Students viewed the classroom through a teacher’s lens—looking closely at classroom environment, management strategies, procedures, student engagement, and the many ways teachers build positive relationships with students. This real-world experience allowed students to connect what they are learning at CHS to what teaching looks and feels like in an actual classroom.
Experiences like these help our students discover their own teaching style, explore grade-level interests, and prepare for future practicum placements. A huge thank you to BMSN teachers and staff for opening their classrooms and investing in the next generation of educators!

Last week was a busy week in AP and Dual Credit U.S. Government! Our seniors had the opportunity to register to vote, and our students participated in our annual Candy Caucus. Students took on the role of candy candidates and worked to convince their classmates to support their candy in order to earn delegates and secure their party’s nomination.
The winning candy candidates will now move on to our general election, where students will cast their votes to determine which candy wins! It was a fun way for students to experience the election process firsthand while putting their government knowledge into action.

🎻 Team-Building Retreat at Mo-Ranch!

Chief Goldstrom and I could not be prouder of our amazing Raiders and the way they represented our program at this past weekend’s Northeast ISD Raider Challenge. These students demonstrated true grit, determination, teamwork, and excellence in action as they endured grueling temperatures while competing against 30 high schools from across the state. Every cadet embodied the core values we strive to instill in our program, demonstrating the rigor, discipline, teamwork, and camaraderie that make this event such an incredible challenge. We couldn’t be more impressed by the effort, resilience, and excellence each cadet brought to the field. They gave it their all, supported one another, and represented our program with tremendous pride. What an outstanding weekend for our Raiders! RESULTS ARE IN:
- GILRS TEAM: placed 3rd Overall, 3rd in the 5K run, 3rd in the Cross Country Rescue, and 3rd in the Physical Team Test.
- BOYS TEAM: placed 6th Overall and 3rd in the Rope Bridge
