Welcome to the fifth week of the 2026–2027 academic year at Samuel V. Champion High School! Thank you for an amazing first few weeks of school here at CHS! Our students are getting used to their routines and schedules. Our student Spirit is bringing us so much joy! The stampede was recognized Friday night by our opposing team by not only the head coach letting them know how special they were to the campus, but he also rewarded them with pizza. Kudos to an amazing coach and to our awesome students that exemplify what it means to be a CHAMPION each and every day.

This excerpt from the book Mindset, by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., always reminds me of how much our students bring to this district and campus each day. They work hard within the classroom on their academic expectations and goals. They practice sometimes before and after school, early in the morning and late at night. It is not easy to be a “CHAMPION” at Champion HS. It takes countless hours of dedication and hard work. We see you! From the students, teachers, parents, and community members that make all of this happen, we are thankful and we know we are all successful because of YOU!

We are requesting your assistance with dress code. Special assistance is needed making sure our shirts and tops cover the midsection. Shorts and Skirts also need to maintain an appropriate, modest length. All personal devices - off and away for the DAY!
Shirts & Tops: Must cover the midsection and be worn at all times.
Bottoms: Shorts and skirts must maintain an appropriate, modest length.
Headwear: Hats and hoodies are permitted on school grounds, but cannot be worn on the head inside classrooms or school buildings during class hours.
Prohibited Items: Trench coats are strictly banned. Clothing with inappropriate language, symbols, drugs, alcohol, or violence is not allowed.
Personal Devices: Off and Away for the Day! Personal devices are not allowed to be used on campus. Once they enter the gate/ door to CHS, they are off and away. BISD policy is in the student handbook. All teachers and staff will follow policy.

What a week last week! We were tremendous at all three levels. Our Thursday night game was a great win against Long Creek. We talked all week about being a good steward of our community and making sure we had a great showing for our home opener. All three phases of the game were strong! The atmosphere at our game was tremendous. Our Charger Nation showed up big and created a playoff type atmosphere for our players. We are proud of our start and look to stay humble in our preparation. |

Champion Speech and Debate had a great weekend in Austin at the Glenn HS Speech and Debate Tournament. Mackenzie Johnson got 3rd place and Giuliana Hernandez made semi-finals in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking. Jemma Cardwell got 6th and Ariyanna Rivera, Sashivardhan Sunkara, and Gayasuddin Shaik made Semi-finals in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking. Aldo Gonzalez reached Octa-finals in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Mackenzie, Jemma, and Aldo all earned state qualifying points. |

They are hosting an Adopt-A-Highway Community Cleanup and they invite all CHS students to join them in giving back to our community while also earning volunteer service hours. The project is SUNDAY, SEPT 20th from 8:30am-10:00am. We will give you exact location details in the next newsletter :) |
Champion Theater Announces their New Season |
NEHS - NEHS Applications are now open. You can pick up an application from the folders hanging on Mr. Behrens's door (B171). Applications are due September 8th at 4pm. You can turn in completed applications to the designated folder on Mr. Behrens's door. You must hold a 3.0 GPA in English to join. Email Mr. Behrens if you have any questions.
SNHS: Please see our Google Classroom for the club participation form that is required to be signed each year by participating members and their guardian. You may also come by B154 to pick up a copy this week before school on Wednesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 10. Please return to Mrs. Koo in B154 by Friday, Sept. 11.

Skyward Family Access - This is a great support for you. You can see parent notifications, grades, attendance, as well as, view student progress reports and report cards at any time. We ask that you keep this account up-to-date at all times, especially emergency contacts and family contacts. This is critical because students are not allowed to be check out with anyone except the family members listed in emergency contacts!

Parent Square - Please be aware of the following: (1) Parent Square and Student Square data is synced based on the information in Skyward Student. (2) If a parent wants to update their parent square information email or phone number then this has to be edited on the campus in Skyward and the data will then sync overnight to Parent Square. Please contact Maria Bidot @ (830) 357-2613 (3) If both parents want access then 2 different emails must be used and assigned to 2 different cell numbers.

Schedule Changes:
This week is the last week for students to drop their advanced class. Please make sure your student has turned in the completed form by 4:00 on Friday, September 11th. As a reminder,
Boerne ISD policy allows Honors/AP® courses to be dropped after the 4th week of school with the window of changes lasting two weeks only. Honors/AP® drop forms are available in the Counseling Office until September 11th.
To be considered for a schedule change, students will need to do the following:
- Attend recommended tutorials.
- Complete course assignments.
- Participate in a parent/teacher conference.
- Receive Dean approval.
Exit requests will be considered based on teacher input, student performance, available space, and timing. Students maintaining a C or better should generally remain in the course for the semester. Please note that grades from the original course transfer to the Academic course, and grades earned during the first three weeks may affect UIL eligibility.
PSAT
The PSAT test date this year will be on October 6th. All 10th graders will be signed up and paid for to take the test automatically. Any 11th grade student who is interested in taking the test for the National Merit Scholarship program will also be allowed to take the test. A link will be provided for juniors to register starting on September 16th and the fee to take the test is $18.

Testing:
TSIA Test
The TSIA is a test that most colleges and universities require upon enrollment. It has three parts: Math, ELAR and an essay portion. It is a test that assesses college readiness and if students score a 950 (Math), 945 (ELAR), as well as a 5 on the essay portion, they will meet the CCMR requirement. The test will be offered several times throughout the year and juniors and seniors are highly encouraged to take it, but it is open to all grade levels. See the flyer below for the first semester TSIA dates. The test takes about two hours and will take place in the library. The cost is $5 for each section and the registration form can be found in the Google classroom for each cohort.
ASVAB Testing
Testing will take place on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. Testing is open to all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.

Regular attendance ensures that students don’t miss important instruction, can actively participate, and maintain the structure needed to learn effectively. Even bright students can struggle to succeed if they miss too much school. Make your attendance in school a top priority this year! Any questions you may have, please contact our Attendance Secretaries - they are here to help!

SENIOR PORTRAIT PROOFS have been delivered to English classes! These proof sheets are important because each student is given a personalized order code, AND the code was also sent to the parents' email. The email often goes to junk mail, so search for an email from Inter-State. These unique codes are generated for each student after the photos are taken, and the digital proofs are emailed directly to parent email addresses.
***Remember, there are 164 seniors who did not get their picture taken prior to school beginning. You will need to make sure you go to the make-up Senior Picture Day Sept 29 and Oct 29. If you need parent support, the website for our photographer company is inter-state.com/support. Please reach out with any questions you may have.
