Welcome to the fourth week of the 2026–2027 academic year at Samuel V. Champion High School!
School spirit fosters a sense of community, belonging, and shared pride that directly enhances student engagement and academic success. School spirit is having pride in one’s school, maintaining a connection to the school and coaches for life, supporting all school teams and programs whether a participant or a fan, and contributing to the bond between school and community.
On an individual basis, pride is a key component of school spirit. Students who become involved in sports and team activities/ programs take pride in their teams and school and tend to carry that pride to their future careers after high school. Involvement in extracurriculars cultivates critical traits like leadership, teamwork, and effective communication
During this fall season we have the opportunity to support all of our programs on campus that are currently competing and challenging each other each day. Our first pep rally of the 2026-2027 school year is this week. This is the students' opportunity to celebrate and lift each other to be the best they can be knowing their fellow students, faculty and staff are all behind them cheering them on. In a time when pressures are high, our campus and community will work together to boost the spirit that lives within all here at Champion….and build resilience, share traditions, and unite students under a common identity.
Thank you to all who attended our Charger Open House. Teachers were excited to get to meet you and give you a glimpse of what your students accomplish each day. We appreciate your ability to take the time to join us.

Please take a moment to review our dress code. We will continue to uphold our dress code on campus and ask for your continued support in keeping our campus respectful and safe!
Shirts & Tops: Must cover the midsection and be worn at all times.
Bottoms: Shorts and skirts must maintain an appropriate, modest length.
Headwear: Hats and hoodies are permitted on school grounds, but cannot be worn on the head inside classrooms or school buildings during class hours.
Prohibited Items: Trench coats are strictly banned. Clothing with inappropriate language, symbols, drugs, alcohol, or violence is not allowed.
Personal Devices: Off and Away for the Day! Personal devices are not allowed to be used on campus. Once they enter the gate/ door to CHS, they are off and away. BISD policy is in the student handbook. All teachers and staff will follow policy.

The master schedule is now finalized, and we are no longer accepting general schedule-change requests. Changes will only be considered if a student is missing a graduation requirement or has been removed from an extracurricular program. Thank you for helping us maintain balanced classes and the best learning environment for all students.
Honors/AP® Exit Guidelines
Boerne ISD policy allows Honors/AP® courses to be dropped after the 4th week of school. Honors/AP® drop forms will be available in the Counseling Office beginning August 31.
Students must:
- Attend recommended tutorials.
- Complete course assignments.
- Participate in a parent/teacher conference.
- Receive Dean approval.
Exit requests will be considered based on teacher input, student performance, available space, and timing. Students maintaining a C or better should generally remain in the course for the semester. Please note that grades from the original course transfer to the Academic course, and grades earned during the first three weeks may affect UIL eligibility.

For current Mu Alpha Theta members, it is time to renew your membership. You need to submit:
- A signed parent permission form (pick up from B172)
- A screenshot of your final grade from your 25-26 math course
- A screenshot of your current schedule showing enrollment in a math course
- Staple and turn these in to Ms. Carlson by October 1st!

Champion Theater Announces their New Season |
SHUTTLE STUDENTS - If you miss your shuttle bus, transportation will no longer send extra buses. The shuttle bell rings 5 minutes before the shuttle leaves. You have plenty of time to get to the bus.
CAR RIDERS - ***This is important information to share with your parents:
- Front Entrance Circle - this entrance closes at 3:30 each day so that we can prepare for busses to come into the school.
- Back Entrance/Car Rider Loop - The gate opens at 3:45pm for parents to begin coming into the back loop and remains open through the afternoon for car riders.
NHS - NHS has their meeting on Tuesday during advisory in the auditorium.
WES TUTORING - WES Tutoring starts THIS WEEK! Every Wednesday from 4-6pm in the library! If you need help with a particular class - COME TO TUTORING!!! DON’T WAIT!!

HOSA - Calling all future healthcare heroes! Interested in healthcare competitions, leadership, community service–or just want to see what HOSA is all about? Meet other students interested in healthcare and learn about how you can get involved in all the fun things HOSA has planned this year. No experience required. Just bring yourself and a friend!

Stay connected with Skyward and Parent Square! If your child attends both CHS & BHS, you will get notices from both schools. Only you can manage your accounts; we do not have rights to change you from a distribution list.

Skyward Family Access - This is a great support for you. You can see parent notifications, grades, attendance, as well as, view student progress reports and report cards at any time. We ask that you keep this account up-to-date at all times, especially emergency contacts and family contacts. This is critical because students are not allowed to be check out with anyone except the family members listed in emergency contacts!

(2) If a parent wants to update their parent square information email or phone number then this has to be edited on the campus in Skyward and the data will then sync overnight to Parent Square. Welcome back from the counseling office! Thank you for your patience as we navigated classroom balancing, schedule changes, advisory changes and answering our emails. This year we welcome Jillian Higgins to our counseling team. She was here a few years ago and now she’s back! We’re so happy have her! As the school year unfolds, know that the counseling team is excited to meet our news students and to welcome back our current students. Back to School Tips

AP/Honors/Dual Credit Schedule Changes
The window to drop AP, Honors, or Dual Credit classes will be from August 31st-September 11th. Before dropping an advanced course, students must:
- conference with their teacher
- complete the course assignments
- attend recommended tutorials
- get approval from parents, teachers, and academic dean
Drop forms will be available in the counseling office on August 31st.
Google Classroom Codes
During the course of the school year, announcements, deadlines, events, etc. will be posted in the google classroom for each cohort. Students will need to join the google classroom to get important information.

Regular attendance ensures that students don’t miss important instruction, can actively participate, and maintain the structure needed to learn effectively. Even bright students can struggle to succeed if they miss too much school. Make your attendance in school a top priority this year! Any questions you may have, please contact our Attendance Secretaries - they are here to help!

You will need a "Verification of Enrollment" form completed from the school. Fill out your request on the VOE GOOGLE LINK and then allow 24 hours for us to process your report. *Make sure to answer each question completely! |
SENIOR PORTRAIT PROOFS have been delivered to English classes! These proof sheets are important because each student is given a personalized order code, AND the code was also sent to the parents' email. The email often goes to junk mail, so search for an email from Inter-State. These unique codes are generated for each student after the photos are taken, and the digital proofs are emailed directly to parent email addresses.
***Remember, there are 164 seniors who did not get their picture taken prior to school beginning. You will need to make sure you go to the make-up Senior Picture Day Sept 29 and Oct 29. If you need parent support, the website for our photographer company is inter-state.com/support. Please reach out with any questions you may have.
