Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA)

What Is TSIA?

A mandatory placement test for students entering Texas public colleges to determine readiness for college-level math and English. It assesses skills in reading, writing, and mathematics to determine if students need preparatory coursework.

All cyber security P-TECH students are required to take and pass the TSIA tests in order to qualify for college courses through Northwest Vista College.

What Are The Passing Scores?

ELAR Multiple Choice

  • 945 or higher

  • < 945 with Diagnostic Score 5 or higher

ELAR Essay

  • 5 or higher

MATH

  • 950 or higher
  • <950 with Diagnostic Score 6 or higher

Ways To Check Your Scores

When TSIA Is Offered

Testing is offered on the Champion HS campus at least twice per month, with one day during the school day and another on a Saturday.

P-TECH students will have additional testing dates available to them 

P-TECH students can also sign up to test with their home campus whenever there is an available date 

Where To Sign Up For Testing

The counselors post the live registration links to the grade level Google Classrooms

The weekly cyber P-TECH newsletter will have links to the sign up forms

Students at BHS can sign up in their counseling office for BHS specific testing dates as well.

Cost For Testing

Each TSIA assessment is $5.00 for non P-TECH students.

P-TECH students do not pay to take the TSIA as it is covered by the program.
